<Tet Offensive made it obvious that the combined forces of North Vietnam and the Viet Cong weren't being defeated or decimated>

While I agree with most of the article's points, from an on the ground perspective, the NVA and VC were absolutely hammered during Tet - they lost tens of thousands of troops - most people don't realize that. The victory they gained was political in the global media. What people saw was the VC and NVA attacking in every major city in South Vietnam including the US Embassy in Saigon (US MP's firing over a wall at the VC made every major magazine cover at the time. The North's strategy was daring and brilliant - and with their willingness to sacrifice their troops, they pulled it off at a very high price. Also there were a number of units that bet on the fact the VC or NVA wouldn't make a move during the Lunar New Year.
