HEADLINE: Watergate reminder

In an editorial June 22 you say that impeachment of President Bush will not happen. Don't be too sure. I well remember how slowly the press treated the Watergate break-in - small stories buried in the back of the paper - and the parallel to the Downing Street memo is striking.

Besides your editorial, Molly Ivins' column was devoted to the evidence that Bush took the country to war under false pretenses and had no plan for the occupation. These two commentaries are signs that some momentum is building, finally.

Nixon's crimes pale in comparison to those of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld. Especially effective in your editorial was the juxtaposition of Bush's words and the words of the memo.

Bush's screed last night was disgraceful... Bush is clearly out-of-touch with reality, living in his own delusional world dreaming about what he'd apparently wish for, rather than dealing with the reality on-the-ground...

1. Firstly, 9/11 was perpetrated by Osama bin Laden who Bush promised to "git dead or alive", but let "off-the-hook" by illegally & immorally invading Iraq for his OIL cronies (just get hold of Cheney's top-secret Energy Task Force Meetings' minutes, visual aides, etc. where in the summer of 2001, they planned their incursion to steal Iraq's OIL)... Also, read the U.K. Downing Street Memos...

2. Secondly, terror has been with mankind since the beginning of time and will be with mankind until our demise as a species... To wage war on terrorism is a phony, obscene euphemism for waging Perpetual War for Perpetual Profits-- it is destructive, unrealistic and a betrayal to our nation, whom Bush is impoverishing by using our U.S. soldiers as cannon-fodder & swindling our U.S. treasury to enrich corporate goons from Halliburton, Bechtel, Carlyle Group, etc.-- and the Bush & Cheney Crime Families...

3. Thirdly, Bush calls for sacrifice-- when the cowardly Bush and the crooked Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld have never sacrificed themselves... Bush was AWOL from a Champagne Brigade Unit designed to get rich brats out of warfare in Vietnam, when better men than Bush served in Vietnam and died or returned home maimed for life... Bush is a superficial buffoon who smirks about war because he doesn't comprehend what war is... Cheney had "other priorities"-- like getting rich, instead of serving our nation... Condi didn't serve... The list of neo-con cowards and war-cheerleader blowhards (Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly and other buffoons) is endless who didn't serve our nation when it was their turn...

Now, WE THE PEOPLE are asked to fall "hook-line-and-sinker" for the corrupt Bush/Cheney administration's jingoism, lies, deceptions and falsehoods, to hoodwink us into sending our own kids (When are Bush's brats or Cheney's brats or Rumsfeld's brats going to sacrifice their lives for our nation???) to die to enrich these traitors-- or-- why should our nation squander over $1 BILLION U.S. Taxpayer dollars Per WEEK to enrich Halliburton, Carlyle Group, Bechtel, Unocal, Exxon-Mobil, the Military Industrial Complex-- in a botched-up bloodbath miserably and incompetently mis-managed by the arrogant, hapless, corrupt and greedy Bush/Cheney administration???...

We should not accept Bush's lies, deceptions and falsehoods taking us to war-- and lies, deceptions and falsehoods to keep us there... We should be calling for the IMPEACHMENT of Bush, Cheney and Co. today...
