I was still in diapers when the original came out, and maybe five when I saw it for the first time. To this day I hadn't ever ascribed political motives to this movie.

I am so naive. I thought it was a new phenomenon. <ng>

In the end, the narrator paid tribute to the billions of humans that died for the cause of evolving immunity.
