Your perspective is appreciated. What is not appreciated are people who enter politics for personal gain. Some desire prestige, others desire money.

A local builder used his position on the city council to get projects approved that might not have been otherwise. His company got business from people who had trouble in getting their project approved by city bureaucracy. He was a developer by the time he ended his affiliation with the city council.

One apparent important motivation for seeking high office of a recent occupant was the potential for extramarital sex.

My friend is running for the right reasons. His boss has motivations that are difficult to condone.
