One of our threadsters decoded one line. "I'm not interested in arguing about it" means I'm not interested in having others express a differing opinion.

Because we were just having a fun conversation? There was no big agenda, it was just playfulness. That's why. I didn't even read the column- I just wanted to have some verbal fun. The herring was the whole point, red or not. I am sorry you wondered about it. Sometimes light fun is just light fun.

I'm sorry playfulness is cause for such...whatever this is here (I won't label it, because I don't want you to infer any insult- so whatever you think this is over here, as regards a playful conversation between two people who are not regulars here, you use that word, whatever it is). I'm also sad that you thought it was smug. It was merely fun with someone else- and not directed at anyone, or aimed at anyone, or meant as disrespect to anyone.

Next time you wonder about something as light and playful as this, ask me- and I'll probably tell you it was meant with no seriousness at all. And if you take offense to it, I'll apologize, even if no offense was meant, and even where I can't even see the offense. OK?

I guess it comes down to a question of whose speech...

er...

ox, is being gored.

Because, that article, taken in its proper context makes a
complete mockery of them, what they stand & fight for & what
they vehemently fight against.

All they are left with are red herrings, straw man arguments,
deceit, obfuscation, distortions & outright lies. And they
somehow believe they won the arguments under those
circumstances too.

Go figure.

"If so, I wonder why they don't just argue that point instead of tossing out a red herring."
