"The only "rights" that are or should be withheld from children are either really just legal privileges of law abiding adults"

Just make sure they have the "legal privilege" of going to war to protect your martini! The "legal privilege" of being FORCED to protect your martini, if it comes to that.

Do these children have the "right" to refuse a strong risk of death--as you (probably) do?

Isn't it ironic that certain people argue that (fertilized) eggs have a RIGHT to be born (which obliterates any semblance of human rights for the mother)--while out of the other corner of their mouth they speak of the DUTY of these children to be forced to put their life on the line for people twice their intelligence and experience...and often far superior in physical ability? The forty year old politician and the fellow who plays golf with him have already experienced so much life. But WHO is FORCIBLY drafted (human rights, you know)--little children...even virgins.

So much debate in life is not about intelligence or reason--it is about the ability of self serving and ignorant bastards (not talking about you, btw) to further their self interest. It seems to happen in every society and culture, doesn't it? The fat cats using others just to get an umbrella with their martini?

Which side are you on, if I may ask? Do you appreciate the contradiction between arguing for the "rights" of a (fertilized) egg? ... And between FORCING that fertilized egg to lay his/her life on the line for YOUR benefit a decade or so later? The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, eh? Being drafted must be wonderfully happy...

99.9 % of people in the world are USED. Naturally, we should keep the supply intact...

AND WE ARGUE ABOUT MINDLESS AND FERTILIZED EGGS BEFORE ARGUING ABOUT THE RIGHTS OF OUR CHILDREN?? LOL...ACS.

by that standard, infanticide could be considered perfectly acceptable

There is no clear distinct event to divide an unaware newborn and a more mature baby. That is why the unequivacal event of birth makes good legal sense.

Self-awareness is a poor standard
Self-awareness is the one and only distinction that makes us human - homo meaning "wise". The only reason anyone wonders about such subjects as themselves, or fetuses, or souls is because of self awareness.
