Coug,

<I don't know if you have read much of Paul Fussell's stuff>

Thanks, thoughtful of you and I will check him out. Along those lines, Tracy Kidder is writing a book on his experiences in Vietnam - I think it is coming out in September - he wrote "Soul of the New Machine, House, Mountain Too Far and a number of others. My wife and I met his wife and him when we lived in Northamption - our kids played together. Every now and again we would talk about Vietnam. He turned me on to an extraordinary book and author named Tim O'Brien who is well known for "The Things They Carried". However his first book was called "Going After Cacciato" - it totally blew me away.

Kidder is an amazing writer - he was an Infantry Lt. I ran into him this spring - I think it will be autobiographical. I hadn't seen him in 15 years - fame hasn't changed him - still intense, thoughtful, compassionate, and a great sense of humor.

Long winded response - have a great long weekend.
