much to think about in what you observe, and they are not entirely wrong exactly, but i am the optimist at the beginning and end of everyday, and i happen to think it will all work out between large continental nations, because the alternative ... :0)

on divorce rate, they have been trending up in my part, amongst expat and local families of all ethnic groups ... actually i am not sure about indian families in hk; since i do not know enough about them i tend to think their divorce rate is quite low, simply because there are relatively few hk indians, and if they divorce each other, who do they then turn to, as they tend not to marry out of their group, except perhaps the ones eduacted in london

the divorce rate on mainland china is also rising, though still low, may be because the good women folks astutely tolerate a fling here and there as long as there is no economic impact on the primary household and the kids, again i am guessing

amongst the expats, the divorce rate seem quite high, like perhaps 1 out of 3 amongst the folks i know, either the lady wants out because the hubby got caught doing something naughty or the hubby wants out because he met someone nice while traveling on airplanes and living in hotels

however, by observation, the effect of a divorce and being away from the kids is devastating soon after a divorce, when the hubby realizes that perhaps it was all a big huge mistake ... too late to fix by then and real bummer
