I've always disagreed with the notion that poverty is the cause of crime. If poverty is the cause of crime then many parts of rural America would be just like urban gang war zones...but they are not.

The cause of crime in actuality is GREED. Urbanites selling drugs are interested in making huge sums of money, NOT getting enough money to buy a beater car and groceries.
