You know, ironically I agree that Bush is there for the oil. However, what pisses me off is that they promised to get Iraqi oil to pay for the war, but instead we've had to pay close to $300B now. If only that money had been spent on alternative fuel vehicles.

Having said that, I will be very happy when Iraq gets stabilized and becomes a free, Democratic state. That will be a catalyst for a lot of change in the Middle East. Can you imagine a Democratic Muslim country that allows immigration from the Autocratic states around it? Iraq could easily become a magnet for the oppressed and leverage that into economic, political, and spiritual renewal and reform. The countries around it will have no choice but to reform or find themselves with no people to oppress. But Iraq still has a long road ahead. This story will be measured in decades, not months or years. And if they don't get it right, they will never achieve their potential. Look at Mexico. They are relatively free and democratic AND they are resource rich. However, they have failed to lift their people up in any sizable way, which is why many of them drift across our borders to get jobs here.
