RE: BOOk - I dont read chinese - who would think they could get a good grasp of chinese people, power and politics and not even read the language - probably only slick lawyer - hehe.

RE: confidence is a fragile thing, for goog, houses, war, and such matters. once shattered, cost muchto rebuild, and difficult to rebuild when the fiat money itself, along with its caretakers are not taken seriously

No I already post link refuting that earlier in the thread
American Mice rebound quickly from shattering - A LA 2000 crash cause they were well fed young - but slant mice starve when young so they more scared and fidgety - they even admit it - even when they should take it easy Big Lebowski style they too panicky and cause global imbalance with thier domestic savings: American mice take your bobby mcferrin song to religious levels - don't worry - be happy while we watch club dread and scary movie 2 singing jimmy buffet hamburger in paradise.

asiantribune.com

A criticism aimed at those affected was that they were standing in queues to collect more than what they needed. An interesting scientific study done long time ago showed that when mice are given less food than they needed, they ironically hoarded some of the little food given although inadequate. Even when they were given what was needed later on (in adult life), they still hoarded some food, compared to the other group of mice who were given adequate amounts from early days. Whether they were given less or more later on they never hoarded any food.

This example fits in well with what we saw and comparable especially to people in developing countries whose future is insecure and unpredictable. When it comes to savings (as compared to investment) of money the middle class in a developing country saves relatively more than the middle class in a developed country. It may be worth comparing the first generation in developed country expatriates with the second generation as regards savings. The justification for this phenomenon of taking excesses may be, “If there was an excess of dry rations going around, It would be better to be distributed in excess to the people rather than getting into hands of corrupt officials as long as the excesses were not sold or bartered for cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs (although not widespread some instances have been recorded).

Now I remember some guy DENT who talked about generational waves in demographics and economic effects - now my mom starved on the farm with her 8 siblings, her grandmother starved more with her 13 - some of who died from starve, but me - I am fat like da beachball and roll around on da beach and no worry of starving so I don't horde maybe like her and her grandma did - but as we go broke and my grandkids maybe starve - then attitude change and cycle begin to repeat.

This why stock crash and housing crash in 1929 different than it will be today - that was starving mice back then that always panic - today in america - fat happy mice that happily go over the cliff and not have care in the world except new brittney spears CD. Ask you some history since you have family from old BRITAIN, when the crash came in 29, were people as worried there who were further along in middle class as they were here were people starve more?

TJ,

Re: on iraq, a pull out may not be the wisest move at the mo, as it would likely be interpreted as weakness and defeat, as opposed to strategem and winning way

It's interesting that you do not reflect upon that fact that George Bush is currently the world's worst war criminal. He is immoral. He is acting completely illegally.

It's a shocking thing to realize how far humanity has slipped from the moral moorings that helped us create the United Nations and declare the Geneva Conventions in the aftermath of WW II.

Humanity was far more decent back then. Modernity seems vastly too focused on gambit, gambling and greed to really provide for the General Good.

Re: given that the empire is, then a sign of weakness may not be astute

Craven empires come and go. Good riddance. The pity is that Americans seem hellbent on throwing away their brilliant experiment in Constitutional democracy for the sake of another fill-up.
