Here's the point, zof, communism doesn't work because it is implemented as a dictatorship or as a cabal of likeminded people who rule the majority through force. Therefore, there are no checks and balances, no restraints placed on the leaders to force them to act in the best interests of the people.

That is why Democracies are superior. If a leader disappoints or tries to consolidate power, then he is kicked out of office in the next election. Sometimes, he can even be impeached and can face criminal and civil charges. Try any of that in North Korea, China, or the old Russia. Good luck making it out alive.

Anyway, I shouldn't have to point all of this out. It should be obvious to any reasonably intelligent person that Communism is a dead ideology. It never had what it took to survive. Democracy has proven itself to be the best organizing principle of gov't...at least the best that has been invented so far.

Z, But is it because of anything inherent to communism?

The success rate for capitalist societies far exceeds that of communist societies. Marx hasn't been proven right yet.

And how many Native Americans are dead because of us?

A lot, but we're at a point now where we can afford to be introspective and admit the sins of the past. Communistic societies never get to that point.
