The US needs to regain its role as global leader -- it needs a President that is respected for his intellect and character. Kerry could have been that man - but he did what other Democrats have done -- he put winning ahead of all else, and that cost him the election. He supported a reckless invasion thinking it was politically "smart" or at least necessary. Now he is nowhere.

On environment we need to be world leaders dealing with global warming. On education we need to make it clear that we now live by our brains and unless we get off our ass and do a better job of educating our kids then the world is going to pass us by -- which leads to our economy where we need to be global leaders in cleaning up our national balance sheet. The US needs a leader who understands what it takes to put our society on solid footing for the future. On national security, we need less ideology (aka rabid-dog Bolton) and more resolve where it counts -- targeting the core of terrorism rather than fanning the flames of terrorism. We need to retire the chickenhacks like Cheney and get back in touch with the way proud service to America instills a sense of pride when our mission is clear and our leaders have integrity.
