We are telling her, for example, how she must spend her money (to feed and clothe the child), that she may not leave them alone and uncared for while she goes to work or out with friends, etc. Her ability to make these decisions for herself and act accordingly are all part of that vague term "liberty."

In fact, "liberty" is the vaguely defined right where we make most of our compromises when we come together in society (though property obviously comes into play sometimes as well - and even life, when we consider imposing the death penalty). Often these compromises of our liberty come because of someone else's right to life, which is what the debate over abortion really comes down to (except in the case of the mother's life, of course).
