I wasn't talking about Terry Shaivo. She died - she didn't fail to develop self-awareness, which is your hurdle for becoming "human". We can debate the definition of death some other time, though I'm not sure we'd find much to debate. "There are plenty of arbitrary legal milestones ..." Thank you. I think we've settled it. Whatever point we pick is essentially arbitrary - a choice society makes, not some absolute "truth". One point is only better than another based on the persuasiveness of the reasoning behind it, and then still "better" is in the eye of the beholder.
