On the other hand, when the formerly respectable Amnesty International chooses to throw its own credibility down the toilet by calling Gitmo "the Gulag of our times" (their own spokesmen then admit this was totally over the top), a certain amount of persecution complex might be an entirely appropriate response, given the circumstances. Especially when Amnesty's advice is to charge trained fanatic killers captured on the battlefield as common criminals, which means letting them go.

The guys in Gitmo are not political dissidents, you know. Unlike the actual prisoners of the actual Gulag.
