I felt like you do at the time, and for many years. But I think now that Carter was wiser than me, and braver too. I'm sure he knew what he did would cost him a second term, and WOULDN'T cost the hostages their lives. That said, I don't think I want another actual practicing Christian as a President. I'm not a Christian, and it's not a Christian world. I'd rather have the regular phony Christians running things.

He was an idealist & still is, never a coward. Macho parading doesn't qualify as bravery to me. He did make the rescue attempt, but somehow our vaunted military managed to guck it up. Was there foul play a la Bay of Pigs?
As for Israel, how aware are you that it is a religious state? How serious do you take the settlers' claim to God's land? How did we get sucked into their fight?
