A long time ago I got embroiled in a rather messy discussion of the reality of SI and the characters that inhabit it (and honestly I don't even remember who was in the discussion). I truly do tend to remember the ideas and not the characters. I know other people experience it differently. You can, of course, mock what I've said- but it IS true (for me), and unless I make an effort to make a character real, then the characters are no more real than a character in a book that I've read once, and then quickly forgotten. I will die when I die- and if you get the last word I won't mind. I will hope for you that your last words are something as nice as Neo's. I hope mine will be. I hope you will hope yours will be. I wish you wouldn't talk about me (especially since you do not understand me at all). I find it very rude. I do not feel that I should be the issue. Obviously if you don't understand the way I see things, I need to explain, if we are seeing the world in completely different ways- but there is no reason (that I can understand) to argue about natural differences. You see things differently than I do- and that seems to be the end of it. I don't feel like mocking the way you see things, or arguing with you, or making implications that the way you see the world is not really the way you see the world. But, of course, you will do what you will do.
