Elroy,

Israel just like Pakistan and India never signed the non proliferation treaty. Iran did and so did North Korea.

The difference is there albeit on signed docs only.

Yes. Every country with nuclear weapons should be held accountable by the IAEA. The goal should be to reduce the number of them in countries that have them and prohibit their production in countries that don't. This should be humankind's #1 imperative. If we can't show progress on this one issue, then I guarantee you we are headed toward's the unnatural end of human life on this planet. I can't say it any plainer than that.

However, I will tell you that a nuclear armed Democratic country scares me a hell of a lot less than an Autocratic country with nukes. The reason is that in a country ruled by one man or a small group of like minded people, pushing the button is so damn easy. In a Democracy, there are so many social taboos, checks and balances, and frankly a love of human life, that it is a much less likely occurance.

As far as Iran goes, to allow them to get nukes would be unthinkably criminal after their leaders, like Rafsanjani, have openly stated that if they had a nuke they would solve the Israeli problem once and for all.

Let me put it this way. Who would you trust more with a gun, a convicted serial killer or a policeman? North Korea and Iran both are lead by very extreme people. They simply cannot be trusted with that kind of power. Look at what NK does. They consistently try to blackmail the world with their threats of turning South Korea or Japan into a "sea of fire". Are those the types of countries and madmen you really think should be allowed to get nukes?

All countries are not created equally and to suggest that all sovereign states should be treated equally is naive and silly.
