And you are spot on with your specualation about Brown? And thats not all over the place choosing someone who needed a poiitical backroom deal to get her appointment to the CofA in the first place. I have no idea if Renquist is or is not considering retirement at this point. But if he is on the cusp and the Bush folks asked him to retire so it would be easier to confirm 2 relatively conservative judges and move Scalia to CJ (or someone else if Renquist had any strong anti-scalia sentiment), my scenario makes all the sense in the world. Do i think its going to happen. Not really but as you said its fun to speculate but i guess you are referrring only to your speculations.
