I didn't have time to read all the recent posts, but I don't understand why some of my friends have apparently been banned from this thread. As far as foreign relations, I agree with George Washington: ... nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. BANS FROM THE THREAD Sioux, I have praised you many times for your role of Moderator of this thread, and meant it. I understand that Manalagi and Redfish are gone now, which is a source of complete puzzlement--since as far as I am concerned they have been valuable contributors. My suggestion for the future would be: -- if you are in the process of moving towards banning that you post something to the thread that says. "I propose to ban JOE BLOGS because of BLAH BLAH BLAH." -- you let other posters comment and listen to their comments over a 24 hour period or something -- you make your decision and post what it is to the thread From my point of view this has been a very worthwhile thread in which to participate because of the many interesting contributions made from many sources. It has been kept that way by your getting rid of people like laz and jlallen. But if we end up "eating our own children" so to speak, soon we will just have the cyber equivalent of a city parking lot. Anyway, I have NO IDEA whether these recent bans are justified or not. I have not seen anything in the past that would suggest them to be abusive or offensive characters. Your comments? Namaste! Jim
