It wasn't a shark but a 124 pound catfish was just caught in the Mississippi River at Alton, Illinois. Same spot where a Bull Shark was caught in the '40s.

That's like saying that the availability of rifled weapons just made it easier for Civil War troops to shoot better.

A statement which, while true of itself, massively misses the point, which is that more accurate weapons rendered Napoleanic-era tactics of mass charges obsolete, and caused simply horrendous casualties until the generals on both sides had figured this out.

The advent of newspapers and satellite TV created the modern form of terrorism, because with the mass media, a few small but spectacular attacks, timed just right, could have an effect which Genghis Khan would have needed an army to achieve.
