That depends on your broker.. some let you buy directly on foreign markets. Some can only buy such shares on the PinkSheets. I'm not a fan of the latter..

This issue is repeatedly raised on this board. I would encourage everyone interested on these hints to go back some time (days, weeks) and re-read old posts..

Hint: just search for "Ameritrade" and the like on our thread - I remember valuable info offered in this regard..

Pls. understand that since I'm based in Austria, I might have only very little too add here..

I know for a fact it's doable with a Schwab account. Through their Global Investing service, you can buy shares on most world exchanges. I personally own PAR.OL and DNO.OL through Schwab. Commissions were fairly high (~$100 US) but it's been well worth it, lemme tell you.

Jing, I infer you must mean specifically PAR.OL and/or DNO.OL which are discussed often here.

I'll mention though that there are a few Norwegian-listed stocks that also trade on US exchanges. I have shares of these two, for example:
