The Mujehedin were trained and armed by the CIA, dipstick. And Osama, being in the Bin Lauden family and friends with the Bush family, had close ties to the CIA. The Bushes and Saudis were connected not just through oil but through the CIA. Bush Sr' was the head of the CIA, remember? Rumsfield also armed Saddam, so what's the surprise? I don't know if Osama himself was trained by the CIA or an asset, but he he wasn't many of him comrades in Afghanistan were. But if the CIA would choose anyone as an asset, it would have been the tall commanding well-connected and intelligent Osama. I just read a autobiography by a Texas Ranger Joachim Jackson who recounts training Arab Mujeheddin in West Texas in the 80's. Jackson got a queasy feeling after 9-11, hoping some of the Arabs he helped train were not now Al Qaida.
