Thanks, Jim. My guess is that the quality of calls made to Skype members may be wanting. When the quantizing error of Skype's algorithm mixes with those of other compression algorithms in cell phones on a back to back basis you sometimes notice considerable degradation. Skype to Skype is actually superior to regular PSTN, I've found, with far greater fidelity (frequency response), but when the cell is introduced you get the usual degradation of cell communications, which, when their signals are combined, is compounded by out-of-phase and dissimilar imperfections found in Skype. But hey, if it's free, or only 2.4 cpm from the road to reach parties overseas from your cell phone (which could take you to the cleaners unless you're hooked up with the right plan), then it'd be worth it, imo. FAC
