Good advice. A little late for me. It's conditioning too. For my Father a handshake was a contract. That is how I was reared. No one said there are sharks out there ... I had never met people like these... Trusted too much although the one investment was rated triple A by Standard and Poors....

When one meets a person in a workshop on Integrity... Goes to his lavish home, sees him driving a Corvette, meets his wife and children.... and knows he is head of the Board of Realtors ethics committee, one tends to trust. Only later did I find out that the house was rented, back rent owed, car was leased and his wife was in on the deal.

So much for the past.

And I do not expect the government to protect me. In fact three different lawyers said fraud was hard to prove.

Laz, Excellent post, With two notable exceptions:

"'You can't cheat an honest man.'"
This statement has been attributed to W.C. Fields. The first time I heard it, my immediate thought was that ol' W.C. had never dealt with auto mechanics. <g>

"There have always been such men. There always will be."
And women too. Often, women are quite adept at fraud and deception, as many people tend to feel women are inherently trustworthy. - Holly

Disclaimer: My advance apologies to all the competent AND honest auto mechanics who may read this, for you are not who I had in mind when I made this post.

"You defend yourself by being suspicious and checking. And rechecking. Do not expect others, such as the gov't, to protect you."

Hint: She still believes clinton, and in any event, his lower lip curl is cause to forgive all his sins.
