"It is the will and command of God, that...a permission of the most Paganish, Jewish, Turkish (Islam), or Antichristian consciences and worships, be granted to all men, in all nations...,"

Find me something out of the Bible (the real will and command of God) that is the slightest bit tolerant of pagan worship. bible.gospelcom.net

:"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church."

Thomas Paine certainly must be included as a major influence on pre-revolutionary thought , if one is going to to call back to the "original intentions" of those operating in those times .

* Of course Deism has its advantages & disadvantages .... especially when one considers it is always nicer to have the will of the "Almighty" at your back when rallying the troops and raising the general populace in the fight against perceived despots.

Even if you were to lose , morally and religiously
its still a win-win situation! In God We Trust ....
