In my urban planning classes, one professor referred to certain locations as "sacrificial" trailer park locations....built as offerings to the weather gods.

In SW Florida, many of the parks have shiny new double-wides and are newly landscaped and ready for whatever Dennis and his siblings have to offer.

Here is my favorite hurricane anecdote: My late husband and I lived in a huge marina community for several years. Each year there would be a meeting to discuss hurricanes. There were over 700 boats in the marina, many over 50'. One lady stood in the audience and asked what hurricane shutters would be best for her house boat. The harbormaster couldn't respond as he could catch his breath for laughing so hard.
