mindmeld,

I wonder about this.....

First you write:

If I thought all we were fighting for is oil, I'd be lining up right behind you in saying we need to get our people out of their asap.

Then you follow up with:

it may shock you to tell you this, but every President since the 70's has had a strategic interest in ensuring the U.S. oil supplies are unhindered.

And then you expect me to take you seriously? Please, stay with one side of your mouth.

As far as this whooper:

So far, there is enough fog that makes it difficult to conclude whether the adminstration was snookered by Saddam's deliberate ambiguity wrt his WMD or whether the administration criminally manufactured the evidence for war.

That has been conclusively cleared up. Joe Wilson was sent to Niger to verify claims of Hussein's purchases of yellowcake. Wilson found that it was impossible. The documents that were used for this claim proved to be forgeries and this was known before Bush gave his 2003 State of the Union speech where he deliberately lied to the public and Congress about British intelligence had said that Hussein had an nuclear weapons program. Bush lied, end of the story.

This is settled history.

You are merely engaging in the same dreadfully pathetic denial that allows a criminal like Bush re-write 'stuff from the bureaucracy' that doesn't conform to Bush's desire to reward his backers with exemptions from the Kyoto protocol, air and water standards, meat safety standards and just about any other standard the Administration cares to destroy for the sake of his rich buddies.

There seems to be little point in carrying on a conversation with you. Your basic dishonesty is on display for all to see.
