Bush has never seen a pro-pollution bill he hasn't signed.
Bush has never done anything more than the bare minimum he could get away with to protect the environment. Bush has taken oodles of money over the years from pollutors and always suported "voluntary" clean air and water standards. "Voluntary" means pollutors can do whatever they want.

The first thing Bush did when he came into power was bash Kyoto (instead of trying to fix it) and try to relax cyanide in drinking water standards. His energy bill is filled with "get out of jail for free" clauses for pollutors and developers, some of them pushed by Delay who literally represents the pollution lobby.

Cheney is a huge proponent of the smokestack industries, close friends with Duke Power and other big coal and oil-burners. Bush's EPA is staffed with yes-men, some of whom are ex lobbyists for the pollutors.

Christy Todd Whitman resigned out of frustration and wrote a book about the corruption. Also Bushies of course lust to drill in ANWAR and all kinds of other natural wonder places including the California coast, have opened up huge tracts of public land for exploitation and have weakened the endangered species act. Shall I go on?
