I have long been a critic of such practices. If any public institution is going to keep a record of any kind on you it should be not only available to you, but you should be given the information without needing to make inquiries.

I realize that public schools are worried about stroking the egos of kids with high scores and depressing kids who have low scores. That, however, tells me more about the failure of public schools to help children grow through self realization and sound reasoning, than it informs me about their concern for the well being of developing personas.
