"opportunity to hang out with other members at the social gatherings" It's the definition of exclusivity, most likely fueled by personal insecurity. I probably would not make the cut anyway, so it is just sour grapes. One of my law professors is brilliant in regard to iq; I'd guess 180-200. It's hard to communicate, because he is on such a different intellectual level. But this guy has probably pissed off everyone in the building. He can be an insensitive jerk who seems to have no ability to sense what other people are feeling. Despite all of his genius, he is the opposite of intuitive.
