Assuming Bush gets to replace Rehnquist after O’Conner, maintaining the current balance would require one of his nominations to be a strong conservative and the other more moderate.

Interesting thoughts. But what you fail to consider is that the repubs are going to nuke the fillibuster IMMEDIATLY upon use by the dems. Two of the 7 dorks who made the agreement have already said NO PROBLEM. Both Bush's choices will go through. If we are lucky, Bush will get 3. Our constitution is a great document. If it needs changing I want it to happen how it is supposed to. Not ginsberg and friend writing their own laws. They are creepy and unAmerican imo. No stalemate. The dems are in deeeeeeeep trouble. Which is good for America.

"Nominating the 'hardest Right of all possible candidates' first would stalemate the Senate --- all other actions would be stopped... perhaps until after midterms."
