I couldn't agree with you more ... In addition, Gonzalez could end up "seeing the light" after getting to the Supreme Court and become a moderate on the bench. Frankly, I'm hoping the chimp accepts Reid's bipartisan olive branch.

Yes, Reid is playing his poker hand brilliantly. Bush wants Gonzales to fill in for Reihnquist. As a lame duck president at the end of his term Bush would have a hard time to get an extremist conservative nominee. He wants it now, and save Gonzales - which is easier to confirm - for later.
