I would have thought that by now, AQ would have learned to take "many, continuous little nibbles" instead of trying for the whole meal deal. From the POV of "self preservation whilst making a statement", their attacks such as the USS Cole in Yemen were much more effective. With 9/11 and now this, they're nearly giving themselves to caricature. They exhibit a surprisingly delusional arrogance.
