Nope, people like me are Bush's base.

How many people actually know anything about any of these nominees, anyway? The vast majority have never read a Supreme Court decision in their life. More people can name the Seven Dwarves than the nine Justices.

Gonzalez's "failing" is that he's not hard line enough on abortion. Think Bush really wants to get rid of abortion bad enough to appoint someone that will make World Net Daily happy?

Gonzalez is dependably hard line on terrorism and supportive of Presidential autonomy in foreign policy. I think Bush likes that. As the cases start to percolate up from Guantanamo and other detention facilities, he'd side with the administration. Heck, he wrote the policy!

But I do suspect that Bush is holding him back for Rehnquist's slot. Bush rewards loyalty.
