Well, I think it's pretty obvious why the neocons are confusing the issues. It seems they are trying to cover their tracks. I wonder what things might have been like if they had leveled with the American public that they wanted to go to war to spread Democracy, create a base of operations in the ME agains the bad actors in the area, and to secure oil supplies?

Americans would have opposed the war. In fact, they would only agree to go to war if the UN led the advance; that is, until Bush's state of the union in 2003 and Powell's speech at the UN in February,2003. Bush claimed he had documents showing Saddam's purchase of yellow cake. Powell said they had satellite photos of trucks moving WMDs.

I suppose the polls would have been divided right along party lines, which would have allowed them to move forward with the war, but at least they wouldn't have been caught in a lie, which to me supports an impeachment inquiry.

The GOP will stop any impeachment attempt. It will only happen if Americans rise and demand impeachment. I don't see that happening.
