Cheney has still has Halliburton stock options and a lot more. When he was nominated for VP he lied and said he'd cut all ties. The deferred salary he gets is not common or legal at all for government officials giving huge contracts to the company they just headed. It's plain old corruption.

In fact, nothing about this is common, ethical or even legal. You have a nerve trying to whitewash this obvious corruption, especially since Halliburton is guilty of all kinds of gouging in Iraq. That's blood money and it's also our money.

Plus, I'm sure Cheney will stand to collect huge bonuses after he leaves office. If he makes 15 billion revenues for Halliburton while in office I'm sure he'll find a way to collect a commission. Cheney and Bush are both greedy and corrupt. Cheney doesn't even bother trying to hide it.
