energyplay Re: "Code Napolean in Louisiana" You are right about that. Back in the early 1970' a friend of mine was driving through New Orleans on his way to the west coast in a beat up VW. This guy maybe looked a little scruffy, but he had just graduated from law school, though hadn't taken the bar yet. The cops searched the VW (this was out on I-10) and found an unloaded and probably non-working 22 revolver in his belongings. They hauled him in and kept him in the New Orleans jail for a month, never really telling him why.

Years later, when he went to Washington to work for Carter as an advance man (as about half my hometown did) he was worried about his New Orleans adventure showing up on his record and got one of the Carter administration higher-ups to check it out. There was no record what so ever of him ever having been there!
