The real goal should not have been to "get" the Taliban, the point was to get bin Laden and al Qaeda, the guys that hit us. We failed. Nation building in Afghanistan is just a neo fantasy of controlling the region. No different than the Russians 10 years ago. It has nothing to do with 9/11 or deserved retribution or justice. Those 9/11 guys got off free. John
