Huge Manhunt Launched For Bombers
A huge manhunt is under way to find the bombers who killed dozens of people and left hundreds injured in terrorist attacks in London.Home Secretary Charles Clarke said police's "number one priority" today was to find the bombers.A group calling itself the Secret Organisation Group of al Qaeda of Jihad Organisation in Europe has said it planted the bombs.

"Yesterday the priority was helping people, today the priority is identifying the perpetrators," Mr Clarke told Sky News.

"It is a strong possibility these attacks were carried out by Muslim extremists. The claim on a website is a serious one and will be looked into. However, we are keeping an open mind."

Mr Clarke said no intelligence had been missed and that the attacks "came out of the blue".

Police are refusing to rule out the possibility that the blast which ripped apart a double-decker bus was the work of a suicide bomber.

A passenger on the bus said he saw an "extremely agitated" man rummaging in a bag just seconds before the explosion.

Police say there will be an increased visible police presence across London following the attacks.

The extra patrols will include officers from the MPS, City of London Police and British Transport Police.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The officers are there to assist and reassure the public, particularly in communities where people may feel vulnerable."

He added they were "not a response to any specific threat".

Police are urging members of the public to report any unattended items or suspicious activity to transport staff or the police.
