Yes, this stuff is a year old. This business has lasted for a
while. I assume 2003, when that Fed article was written, it was
implemented. I agree, most likely it is done legally through
extending easy credit to investment banks. I noticed that this
easy credit

correlates with the stock market extremely well.

Since I know the person who wrote it, I also know that
both of them got in some kind of trouble with "them" for doing
so, so the forum discussion of it had to be stopped. John is a
very nice patriotic dude.

I suspect that the manipulation could break down at some point
soon. The reason for this thought is the LT trend breakdown I
posted Yesterday. All markets get manipulated at times, but
history tells us this can't be done forever! However, when the
breakdown finally occurs, I think it will be of horrific
proportions, just like the manipulation was. If manipulation
is done through futures, it carries huge risk attached for that
entity. Also, I tend to believe the breakdown will start in
interest rates derivatives, a 500 Trillion notional value
market, which the Fed will be unable to monetarize.

An intervention from a single
source is what is evident to me by looking at the tape. The
pro identified the source as coming from handle 990N cleared
through gelber, and I tend to believe it, since that's what I
also see on my computer screen -g- WHO is doing it? I have no
clue, this is obviously not public information. So, your
guess is just as good as mine. But trading options with this
informations turned my losses into profits. Just keep your
positions very limited, since you don't want to be the buyer when
the music stops. I don't think put positions will pay either,
since the breakdown will be of systemic proportions.
