believe this is now more time than passed between Pearl Harbor and VJ day.

Yes,
There were 1347 days of war from the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, to VJ Day (Victory in Japan) on August 15, 1945.

During that time the U.S. rebuilt an unprepared military. My mother enlisted as a nurse a few weeks later and traveled to North Africa to work in a mobile hospital. She was only 19 years old. Her hostital ship was destroyed in an aircraft raid on Bari Italy in 1943 and her corp settled into Naples as a regional hospital until the end of the war.

My father dropped out of school to join the effort. He spent the entire war in North Africa providing health services to German and Italian prisoners deep in the middle of the Sahara.

An uncle of mine was lost in a merchant marine convoy in the North Atlantic.

The rest of the army was busy too. The battle of Midway in 1942 checked the Japanese advance and began the process of island hopping through the Pacific. In Europe, beyond the Italian campaign, there was the great Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and push through the Rhine. All of this was accomplished with total victory in 1347 days.

1393 days after 9/11 Junior Bush has lost yet another battle in the war on terror, with no plan for victory.
