It won't help anyone long term. Welfare has been practiced in the US for 40 years and hasn't accomplished anything except buying votes for politicians and ensuring generations grow up in poverty.

Is this more money to enrich the corrupt Palestinian gov't or will it actually do some good for the Palestinian people? Arafat died leaving a fabulously wealthy widow, Suha, in France. Almost all of her wealth came from money donated to help the Palestinian people. I guess it helped one Palestinian person. And King Abdullah and others wonder why no one wants to get involved. Go figure.

It amazes me that we have so few provisions in place to follow what happens to the money once we provide it as aid or a loan. There seems to be no accountability. We just so evidence of that in Iraq. No one seems to care.
