It was central the way iran was/is central or pakistan was central but none are as central as afganistan where bin laden is.

Afghanistan is on the fringes of the Muslim world, it was only central as the hiding place of Al Qaeda.

We went after iraq and not the others because it was felt to be low hanging fruit. We pro-war folks knew that. Problem is that the post war war was not well planned for or well run. Bush admin knowing now what it didnt know then might have opted for other means to control saddam.

Sure. If the administration knew then what they know now - in essence, that Saddam would not surrender despite have very little popular support, and would call on his terrorist ally Zarqawi to wage a terrorist war - they would certainly have done some things differently. But they still would have gone in imo because not to go in meant to leave sanctions to crumble and Saddam to play the triumphant survivor. After 9/11 that option was not acceptable.
