The main problem with declaring Bin Laden a pirate is that it ignores the fact that he's really acting consistently with a literal interpretation of the Koran, and is widely admired throughout the Islamic world. But, no matter. The British and the French and even we Americans were forced to give up their own privateers, even though they loved them (in the case of Elizabeth and Raleigh, perhaps literally.) We have already put the choice to the Muslims -- you may admire Bin Laden as a rogue, but protect him at your peril.
