To add to my previous post... compare Barry Goldwater, the recognized father of the modern "conservative" movement and George Bush.

When asked about gays in the military Goldwater responded with something like: "If a soldier can shoot straight, who cares?"

Goldwater is probably spinning in his grave because his conservative movement has been hijacked by George Bush and the right wing intent upon turning America into something far removed from what our founding fathers envisioned.

Bushies are the un-conservative rightwingers. Reckless in fiscal, ethical, environmental and foreign policy areas. Only conservative about a few wedge issues. But overturning Roe v. Wade is very unpopular. Going back to illegal abortions is not going to help anyone. RU-486 makes abortions practically obsolete.
