"Guided" vs. "casual and loveless" are about theology, not science. They're talking about mysterious things that can't be seen with microscopes nor proved in a laboratory. Fundamentalist Protestants argue that you can see in a laboratory that things were all created at the same time, that a geologist can prove that the Great Flood happened, and that Intelligent Design can be proved with physics and physical chemistry. They are not talking about religion, according to them, they are talking about science. Further, they (fundamentalist Protestants) argue that any scientist who disagrees with them is a godless atheist who wants to destroy our civilization, and/or that Satan created all the evidence against 7 day creation in order to tempt us into perdition. Catholics don't believe Satan could create. Only God is the Creator.
