Newton integrated Physics with the "Principia."

Even in regards to this we are still guessing. No one has yet been able to explain what gravity is, or what the universe is made of, among a lot of other things.

I have a vision of some other life form discovering us and it being like when we discover life in some super hot mineral spring on the sea floor.

The equivalent of our high school freshman would come home from school and, with wonder and excitement in his voice, would exclaim to his mom "I bet you can't guess where they found life..."

Probably a pretty common sci-fi theme, I forget.

"Life is a thermodynamic process that organizes energy."

By that definition photosynthesis is alive. Self reproduction is usually also included in the definition. Wouldn't volcanic activity qualify as "a thermodynamic process that organizes energy"?
