Just my own opinion, but I think Jesus would disown the whole lot of supposed, organized, "Christians", were he to return.

Certainly disappointed. But biblical history is no different.

Adam and Eve. ... one rule, that's it...Don't eat the apple.

Crunch.

Ok. So maybe it was a non-intuitive rule. Let's try the Ten Commandments. The common sense approach to the Law. Eating the apple is now ok, but don't screw your neighbors wife [he might screw yours]. Common sense. etc. All the 10 commandments are common sense.

That didn't work.

Maybe they need something more intellectual, something thought provoking under the guidance of a priest [rabbi]. Let's try the Talmud.

Nope, that didn't work.

How about a personal visit. The secondary divinely inspired word of God isn't sinking in. God will do it directly. Even throw in some miracles, water into wine, multiply the bread and fishes to add credibility...

Nailed to the Cross.

After that, what would one expect for the next 2,000 years.
